First, Congrads to ‘David N’ who stated that AVG no longer supports Windows 98. Seems it is no longer ‘Grisoft’, but has become ‘© 2008 AVG Technologies, formerly Grisoft’ and has dropped Free support for 98.
I too am looking for a new ‘Free’ Virus Protection after using
AVG for many years. Thanks to those suggesting new
    alternatives for ‘98.

well basically you dont need an antivirus for win98.. thats primitive for viruses..
viruses depend on the operating system in which it runs.
if you badly need a good free one, try AVG free, it has antispyware too..
if you want an opensource antivirus, you can try ClamWin together with Winpooch..

  • squadmat says:

AVG. The guy who says to avoid it is an idiot.
I don’t think people really make viruses for 98. Oh, and “Anti Virus protection”? Rofflecopter. I want to be protected from a protecter!

  • Mudit G says:

I’m not certain that many virus protection software still support Windows 98. If you can find a version of AVG that does, that would be your best bet.
